For several years now, I've been happy--and very humbled--to be asked by Macy's to host these great in-store Fashion events. Almost two years ago, I had such a BLAST hosting a Macy's Fashion's Night Out event in Miami. So yes Miami....I am BAAACK!!!!

This coming Saturday--March 31st--I am hosting a fun "Find Your Magic: Fashion Challenge" event at Miami's International Mall located in Miami (naturalmente) and only 7 miles from the Miami International Airport.

Those audience members will then be styling models for different scenarios (like "What to Wear for a Job Interview" or "What to Wear for a Girls-Night-Out"). Then, the audience will help in choosing the winning Stylista. The lucky winner will win a $100 Macy's Gift Card!!!

During the event, I will also share my fashion "Nick Do’s and Dont's" and tips for Spring 2012 fashion. And Si kids, I will be doing it en espaƱol for my Latino audience (well, I might sprinkle some English here and there of course!!). There will also be makeup artists from Estee Lauder on hand giving free consultations.

So...if you live in the Miami area...you better come out and see me, get some "Nick Style Tips", have a chance to win some Macy's Gift Cards, and yes, I am bringing my Camera, so...you will also have chance to end up on my "Nick Blog Recap" here

I will be showing all the hottest trends and must-haves for the Fall 2010 Season and I'll be joined by former "Mr Venezuela 2007"...

Chica Orbit Wears NIKOLAKI/Nick Verreos and Pee Wee "Chisme"!!!

More on Miami....
There has been some fun press about the Chica Orbit and her date, Latin pop sensation, PeeWee. I designed the great Orbit Mist Blue dress she wore to the Premios Juventud and in fact, I went with her, but didn't walk the carpet. I opted to watch the show from our "private VIP booth", as I wrote in my previous "Miami" posting. When she finished doing the red carpet, she had told us how much fun it was and what a great time she had (even though it was a stifling 94 degrees!!!). Little did we knew the Latino Chisme (gossip/dish) it would cause...

Now That He's Lost The Mustache, Let's Find Out Who Pee Wee's Beard Is

Well, well, well. And what do we have here? It would appear that our young Pee of the Wee variety hired got himself a female companion for his stroll down the Premios Juventud’s blue carpet....

ORBIT GUM Dress

Chicle! Chicle!

Last month, in the midst of design , draping and making all the patterns for my upcoming Spring 2008 Collection--which I am debuting at the W Hotel San Diego fashion show--I received an email from the Wrigley's Orbit Gum "people" asking me to come up with sketches/ideas for a "Concept" and "Red Carpet" dress based on the Mojito Flavor Orbit Gum. They said, if I was chosen, the new Latina Orbit Gum girl, the beautiful Raquel Jimenez, would then wear it at the upcoming Premios Juventud, the Latin version of the Teen Choice Awards.

Well, I was intrigued, to say the least. I sketched about 11 designs and after much client discussion--and a little bit of my input--they choice one of my more elegant yet still fun designs. I had done several, more costumey Miss Universe Parade of Nations Miss Dominican Republic-with-a-lemon/lime-on-her-head types of styles but I am happy with the one that was chosen. It reflected my sexy-yet-elegant sense of style, but was still an obvious nod to the Mojito Orbit Gum.

The budget to make this creation was very good but there was one catch: The Awards Show would be in a week!! Well, it became like another Project Runway Challenge for me. The model, Raquel was in Spain and therefore emailed me her measurements and would not be present for any fittings so I would have to just go by my years of experience to make this custom dress without an actual person and go by her measurements only. I kept hearing Tim Gunn in my ear saying "Make It Work!" Well, in the end, I did, with the aid of my partner, David, who painstakingly helped me in cutting the dress as well as making the fun ORBIT GUM pillbox hat AND Mojito scarf.

I then flew to Miami (former Miss Universe and Marc Anthony's ex, Dayanara Torres was seated 2 seats away from me!) and the next day would have an early morning fitting (it was perfect, thank goodness) and then attended the Premios Juventud and walked the Red Carpet (it was purple, go figure), amongst such Latin pop stars as RBD , Enrique Iglesias, and Daddy Yankee. The fans on the bleachers were so cute in that they were all screaming "Chicle! Chicle!" as we walked the carpet. I yelled back "Orbit Mojito! Orbit Mojito!". I was surprised that many of them were "Oh , you're Nick from Project Runway!!" Not surprising the show has a huge Latin fan base. I love me some Miami...as well as Orbit Gum too!!!!
