Nick Verreos Hosts "Project Ethos" at Hollywood's Music Box Theater Friday July 16Th!!!

On Friday July 16th I am excited to be hosting Project Ethos!

Project ETHOS
produces red carpet events showcasing all emerging Millennial Generation forms of creativity in one house, on one night. By merging fashion, music, and art concurrently, they bring into existence a unique avenue for artists. Their goal is to provide opportunity for featured participants, as well as arrange a truly invigorating experience for an event goer.

In other words: You want FASHION, Project Ethos has it! You want MUSIC? Done. You want ART? Ditto!

Project ETHOS closes the gap between Indie and Mainstream. With an experienced and focused eye, they discover new extraordinary talent and create a link to decision makers. It's perfect for LA where we've always been at the pulse of "What's Next and What's Hot". I am so excited to be hosting this great event of Fashion (TEN fashion lines featuring over 100 models!!!), music and art at the newly renovated Music Box Theater (formerly the Henry Fonda Theater, right in the heart of Hollywood!)...Now, if I can just find something to wear appropriate enough for such a big night in Hollywood!!!!

Out and About: The Launch of WOW on Sunset Blvd.

Spotting Alaskan Moose....and more, with Nick!Nick Verreos and former Miss Oregon USA 2004 and "Apprentice" contestant Jennifer Murphy at the launch of WOW, M Aesthetics Spa, Beverly Hills

Recently I was invited to the launch of WOW--the Women Online Worldwide--a organization whose mission is to empower women through seminars, an online forum, products and resources. The gorgeous Jennifer Murphy, who created Go Girl Worldwide was the host of the party. Jennifer was also a former Miss Oregon USA and a top ten finalist at the Miss USA '04 pageant. She was also on The Apprentice. The event was held at the discreet M Aesthetics Spa on Sunset Blvd. As a designer, red carpet expert--and BIG TIME supporter of women and their empowerment--of course, I decided to make the trek all the way from my Downtown LA studio to Beverly Hills.Miss Alaska Teen USA, Zlata Sushchik, Levi Johnston, and former Miss Alaska USA '08, Courtney Carroll

Outside on the red carpet, I was stopped by TMZ (lovely!) and spotted Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin's not-so-much-son-in-law (of all people) . He was cute, but shorter and smaller than I thought he would be. Somehow I was imagining a big ol' high school wrestler-type, especially from Moose-eatin' Alaska!Miss Alaska USA '08 Courtney Carroll, Nick Verreos and friend, WOW Launch Party, M Aesthetics Spa, Beverly Hills

Speaking of Alaska, once inside the Spa I ran into former Miss Alaska USA 2008 Courtney Carroll, whose gown I designed for last year's Miss USA 2008 Pageant. Courtney Carroll, Miss Alaska USA 2008 in a NIKOLAKI custom gown at the Miss USA 2008 Pageant (she won "Miss Photogenic")

She was there with the current Miss Alaska Teen USA, Zlata Sushchik (looks like Alaska IS really close to Russia!), who is in town getting ready--and shopping--for the Miss Teen USA pageant which will be held in the Bahamas at the Atlantis Resort.

AKA 10th Anniversary Party at Hollywood and Highland!!

Out and About: Nick Verreos at the AKA 10Th Anniversary PartyFormer Miss Universe, Brook Lee, in NIKOLAKI, with the designer Nick Verreos

Last week was the 10Th Anniversary of AKA Talent Agency Party at the Hollywood and Highland Complex' Highlands Nightclub in the heart of Hollywood. The party was CRAZY packed with agents, their clients--from actors, TV hosts, child stars, their parents (Oh Dear!) and anybody in between. I said "Hello" to Rex Lee, star of HBO's Entourage as well as others, including the beautiful Brook Lee, former Miss Universe and host for various TV shows. You can currently even see her all over LA, in those ubiquitous Verizon "Friends and Family" Spanish-language ads. I love how she is Hawaiian, yet she's doing a Spanish-language ad! She totally can pass for a Latina, at least in LA! Brook loves to wear my designs for red carpet events and naturally, she chose to wear one of my NIKOLAKI navy blue silk cocktail numbers for this one. She looked so cute that we had to pose together of course!

Nick Verreos attends LA Confidential Mickey Rourke Party

Nick ConfidentialPlaid Happy: Nick Verreos at LA Confidential Party for Mickey Rourke

Monday night, my good friend Jane Cha, executive producer of Project Runway and Fashionista invited me to come along with her to the L.A. Confidential Party Celebrating cover-boy Mickey Rourke at The London Hotel West Hollywood. Just a day after Mr. Rourke winning his Golden Globe for Best Actor in Motion Picture Drama, the party was a timely way for Hollywood to congratulate the actor.Oh Mickey...You're So Fine: Golden Globe-winning actor Mickey Rourke

I had not been to the all-suite London Hotel since it had been re-done. It was formerly The Bel-Age and during its hey-day, I had been to many a party there. This particular party was thrown by Niche Media's Jason Binn, famous for publishing Ocean Drive Magazine. It was an intimate affair held at the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant in the London. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a sharply-dressed waiter with a plate full of flavored Martinis, white wine and Champagne. We chose a little bubbly naturally. Soon after taking a sip, I spotted actress (and constant Worst-Dressed List Icon) Bai Ling, in a FULL-LENGTH GOWN!!!! When In Doubt, Dress Up: Bai Ling in full-on gown...even though it was NOT a black-tie event

And not just any gown, but light dusty rose satin with tulle and organza overlay and beaded trim! At first, I thought that maybe the Champagne was taking a much-too-sudden affect on my mental condition. But no, I was still pretty sober. I couldn't help but think that THIS WAS NOT A GOWN EVENT...but more of, say, cocktail/after-work attire. In fact, most of the men (and women) present were more "William Morris-agents-who-just-drove-in-from-their-day-in-Century City" as opposed to "Oh-look-at-all-those-Badgley-Mischka-Gowns!" Gotta luv Miss Ling...London In Los Angeles: Chef Gordon Ramsay at LA Confidential Party

Besides the party's Star, Mickey Rourke (looking VERY Mickey Rourke!), and Chef Gordon Ramsay himself (in a tight grey t-shirt), I also spotted actor David Arquette (looking very casual in a lumberjack-style plaid shirt) , and jawline-of-steal Ken Doll-looking actor Aaron Eckhart. But my highlight was actually when I was very warmly greeted by the host himself, publisher Jason Binn, ever the classy gentleman. As the delicious-looking hor d'oeuvres were passed around, I made a mental note to make sure to return to this chic restaurant and actually have a nice dinner!!
